About

comets

The Cardiff Comets were formed in 1994. They are the only Welsh Women’s Ice Hockey Team playing in the British Women’s Ice Hockey Leagues and currently compete in the EIHL Southern Division One League.

In the season of 2002/2003, the Comets won the top British Women’s trophies, bringing the Premier League Trophy & the Chairman’s Cup (Playoffs) out of England and home to Wales for the first time. The Comets became only the 3rd team ever to complete the double and the first ever Welsh women’s club to win at the top level.

Our current Head Coach is Andy Edwards, who is supported by coaches Nicky Rees and Michael McCarthy. Jennifer Ball is the Comets team captain, assisted by Megan Lawrence and Nicky Rees. The club Executive Committee consists of our Head Coach, Team Manager Sarah Davies, Chairperson Eleanore Berrow, Teasurer Nicky Rees and Secretary Han O’Connor.

The team train and play all home games at Ice Arena Wales in the International Sports Village in Cardiff Bay. Training takes place every Wednesday evening.

For more information about the club or to enquire about joining, then please do get in touch. We welcome new players of all abilities.
